Renowned tidying expert Marie Kondo recently revealed that, after welcoming her third child, she has shifted her focus away from maintaining a perfectly tidy home.
During a webinar, Kondo acknowledged her transition, stating, “Up until now, I was a professional tidier, so I did my best to keep my home tidy at all times.” However, she confessed to embracing a more relaxed approach, emphasizing the importance of cherishing moments with her children over obsessing about cleanliness.
Kondo expressed contentment with her decision, noting that although her home may now appear “messy,” she believes she is allocating her time in a more meaningful manner.
A Shift in Priorities
Following the birth of her third child, Kondo, alongside her husband Takumi Kawahara, has shifted her attention towards nurturing her growing family. With daughters Satsuki and Miko, and their newborn son, Kondo’s focus has evolved from maintaining a pristine household to fostering connections and creating cherished memories with her children.
From Tidying Expert to Global Phenomenon
Marie Kondo’s influence extends far beyond her renowned KonMari cleaning method. Her bestselling book, “The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up,” revolutionized home organization by advocating for the removal of items that fail to evoke joy. This philosophy spawned a global movement, inspiring individuals worldwide to declutter their spaces and lead more intentional lives.
The success of Kondo’s book led to the creation of the Netflix series “Tidying Up,” further amplifying her message and providing practical guidance on achieving and maintaining tidy living environments.
Despite her professional background as a tidying guru, Kondo’s recent revelation underscores her commitment to embracing life’s messiness and prioritizing what truly matters: family and personal fulfillment.
