A Celebration of Elegance and Sophistication The Charles Grand Brasserie & Bar

Unveiling City Elegance and Art Deco Splendor

The Charles Grand Brasserie & Bar, along with Tiva, emerges as a beacon of sophistication at 66 King Street. It stands as a testament to a life lived well, celebrating city elegance and art deco splendor. The collaborative efforts of COX Architecture and H&E Architects have birthed an epicurean playground that pays homage to the past while embracing the future of Sydney’s hospitality scene.

Embracing ‘Future Nostalgia’

Guided by the conceptual narrative of ‘Future Nostalgia,’ the design encapsulates the building’s rich heritage through a contemporary lens. Retaining only the heritage features of the existing 1930s ACA building, the spaces have undergone a remarkable transformation. With meticulous attention to detail, the design team, in collaboration with Etymon Projects, has crafted three unique spaces that offer an immersive sensorial experience.

A Fusion of Heritage and Innovation

Despite the challenges posed by integrating new commercial kitchens and bars into a heritage building, the project seamlessly balances the integration of new and existing services. The early planning stages prioritized staff and patron workflow, ensuring a harmonious blend of tradition and innovation.

The Arrival Experience: A Symphony of Luxury

Patrons entering via King Street are enveloped in layers of velvet curtains, guided by a dimly lit concierge. The grand double-height volume of the brasserie, adorned with sculpted joinery staircases, sets the stage for an unforgettable dining experience. The central banquette in Tibero stone invites guests to witness the culinary theatrics of the open kitchen.

A Tale of Two Spaces: Grandeur and Intimacy

Adjacent to the grand brasserie, the bar a vin offers an intimate setting with wine bottles adorning the windows, enticing passersby. This space complements the grandeur of the brasserie, allowing patrons to transition seamlessly from a casual wine tasting to a lavish dining experience. Meanwhile, Tiva, the basement lounge, exudes a rough luxury ambiance, juxtaposing classic authenticity with modern craftsmanship.

Conclusion: A Fusion of Tradition and Modernity

The Charles Grand Brasserie & Bar, alongside Tiva, epitomizes the harmonious fusion of tradition and modernity. It stands as a testament to the enduring allure of elegance and sophistication, offering patrons an unparalleled culinary journey through Sydney’s vibrant hospitality landscape.
