At TT Eatery, the concept of the cafe was born from a simple yet impactful idea: to focus on the food. The client envisioned a space that would cater to teenagers, offering junk food and fast food options in a casual and accessible setting, considering the proximity of numerous schools and colleges in the area.
Embracing Democracy and Accessibility
Central to the concept of TT Eatery is the notion of democracy and accessibility. The space is designed to be inclusive and welcoming, where patrons can enjoy their meals without worrying about maintaining a pristine environment. It’s a place where getting your hands dirty from indulging in a burger is not only acceptable but encouraged, fostering a sense of authenticity and spontaneity.
Bold Design Choices
To bring the concept to life, FREYA Architects embarked on a complete transformation of the space. Ceilings were opened up, walls were dismantled, and imperfections were embraced rather than concealed. The lower parts of the walls were painted in vibrant yellow and blue hues, reflecting the freshness and vibrancy associated with youth.
Accentuating Contrast and Freshness
In addition to the bold color scheme, vintage chairs with striking red backs were selected to add visual interest and personality to the space. Red tables were also introduced as accents, further enhancing the cafe’s energetic atmosphere. A PVC curtain, painted in the same lively yellow as the bathroom walls, serves as a playful divider between the bathroom and the main hall, contributing to the sense of fun and whimsy that defines TT Eatery.
Encouraging Boundless Enjoyment
Ultimately, TT Eatery is designed to evoke a sense of joy and freedom, where boundaries blur and pleasure knows no limits. By embracing imperfection, bold colors, and playful elements, FREYA Architects has created a space that encourages patrons to savor the moment and indulge in the simple pleasures of good food and good company.
